陈朱煌执导苦情戏已有20多年，他说，“亲情伦理是永恒的主题”，并表示将继续在这条创作道路上走下去。据他透露，该剧与以往苦情戏的不同在于，在传统苦情戏元素的基础上有所创新，从不同的角度来诠释人间真情和赤子之心，用孩子的视角观察成人的世界，用孩子的纯真来感动大人。
